Our Location

High Peak’s location is in the central South Island, in a private valley at the head of the Selwyn River, near the Rakaia Gorge. We are one hour’s drive west of Christchurch’s newly rebuilt International Airport.

Getting to Christchurch.

Getting here is simple. First-class airlines such as Air New Zealand, Emirates and Qantas fly direct to Christchurch from a number of international destinations in the Asia-Pacific region. Furthermore, Christchurch is only 80 minutes’ flight from Auckland, New Zealand’s primary international port of entry. High Peak’s proximity to Christchurch means you could well be hunting within a couple of hours of arriving in New Zealand – a timeframe very few hunting operations can match.

Once you and your party get to Christchurch, we will take care of everything else.

Our location in the Rakaia Gorge is an area of outstanding natural beauty, accessible with an abundance of attractions yet relatively low tourist numbers compared to other New Zealand destinations. It’s the best of both worlds – and this is exactly how we like it.

A Playground for All Seasons.

The Rakaia Gorge region is a year-round destination. During the Summer months, it offers world-class fly-fishing, New Zealand’s best salmon fishing, boating and hiking. During the autumn, hunting is what it is all about. Winter offers skiing opportunities unmatched in New Zealand, with six ski areas within an hour’s drive and New Zealand’s best heliskiing. Spring, again, is best known for fly-fishing for big brown and rainbow trout.
